What Students are Saying

Students at The School of Practical Philosophy talk about what makes the
work done at the School practical rather
than theoretical.

Philosophy means ‘the love of wisdom’, and wisdom helps us master the art of living. In this course, you learn how to apply wisdom in a practical way in your life.

This is not an academic course of philosophical ideas. Rather, it offers proven principles that enable you to live a more fulfilling life through greater awareness. The effectiveness of Practical Philosophy is found in your personal experience.

The curriculum is inspired by the philosophy of unity or Advaita, and embraces a wide range of ideas, tapping into the wisdom of the great minds of East and West, including Plato, Socrates, the Buddha, Shakespeare, Emerson, and Shri Shantananda Saraswati.

Much of the learning experience comes from your fellow students and their own innate wisdom. The classes are led by tutors, who are also students in the School. The tutors have been practicing Practical Philosophy for many years and offer their own insights.

What I have learned here is not theoretical. We discuss going through our daily lives and applying new skills and ways of experiencing things that allows me to cultivate more insight, happiness, and calmness.
