Stories That Can Change Your Life: Summer Story Series (New York City)

Based on the learning tales of Shantanand Saraswati and others

On three Monday evenings, July 7, 14 and 21 at 7:00 p.m., you and your family and friends are invited to an evening of stories, conversation, good company and wine.  You may attend any or all of the evenings 

Tickets are $15 per evening or $40 for the series of three. (No online registrations; Payable at the door)

Be Cool During the Summer... Meditate!  (New York City)

A Meditation Group will meet at 12 East 79th Street on Thursday evenings from 7:30–9:00 PM on the following dates:

July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21, 28 and September 4.

The fee is $10 per meeting which will be collected at the door.

This group is open to people who have been introduced to meditation by the School of Practical Philosophy.

This is the ideal way to keep in touch with your meditation practice.  You may attend as many classes as you wish.

If you are interested in attending, please write to info@philosophyworks.org with “meditation” in the subject line giving your name, class during the regular year, and date(s) you plan to attend.  This is not a commitment, but just to help us for planning purposes.

Events at the Hudson Valley, New York Branch

All programs listed below begin at 7pm at the Borden Mansion in Wallkill, New York.

You may arrive as early as 6pm and enjoy the mansion and grounds.

Refreshments will be served during the evening.

The suggested contribution for the event and refreshments is $5.00

Are all welcome: students, families and friends, although no children under 12.

July 9th Musical Performance & Discussion (Hudson Valley)

Judy and Laurence Glazener, former first violinist and principal double bass of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, will provide an evening of fine music and discussion.

July 16th Lecture on Philosophy and Forgiveness (Hudson Valley)

Michael Posnick, long time student of the School of Practical Philosophy and professor at Manhattanville College, will speak on the importance of forgiveness.

August 13th Lecture on Philosophy and Education (Hudson Valley)

William Fox, headmaster of the Philosophy Day School in New York City, will speak on the merits of an education based on philosophic principles.

August 20th Lecture on Philosophy and the American Philosophical Movement: Emerson, Thoreau and Whitman (Hudson Valley)

Barbara Soloway, long time student of the School of Practical Philosophy and lecturer on the American Transcendental Movement, will speak on the teachings of American’s most noteworthy philosophers.

7 Week Course, Philosophy Works, beginning Wednesday, July 9th (Hudson Valley)

This summer course will meet for 7 consecutive weeks at Mount St. Mary College.
