Welcome to the Philosophy in Action Forum
What is Philosophy in Action?
• When our actions are guided by wisdom, compassion, service or just plain common sense --
• When we forego habitual reactions and act according to principle --
• When we leave behind a clear, untroubled, peaceful impression --
• THAT is Philosophy in Action.
Why is it important?
• Philosophy provides the "instructions" for a useful, happy and truthful life.
How can I lead a more "philosophical" life?
• Study and practice what you love.
• Find good company for nourishment, perspective and humor.
• Pause and turn inward on a regular basis to drink from the well of stillness and goodness within.
• Meditate. Find an appropriate method of meditation and stay with it.
This forum will provide an ongoing series of practical examples of Philosophy in Action. Many come from the observations and practice of students in the School of Practical Philosophy, offered in weekly classes or on retreat. We hope you take inspiration from their examples and that you will contribute freely some of your own.
